Blue Ridge Community and Technical College and Allegheny Energy have teamed up to offer the Electric Distribution Technology program, providing college-level educational opportunities for a field that has typically been limited to internal apprenticeships. In two years or less, you can learn the necessary skills to get a job at a variety of local utility companies. Courses for the Certificate or Associate of Applied Science in Electric Distribution Technology, with an Electric Line Worker concentration, will begin July 2008. Get a jump start on your career by joining in Electric Distribution Technology “bootcamp.” Intro to Line Worker (EDET 101) starts July 12th! Saturdays July 12, 19, 26 and August 2 from 8 am to 5 pm -or- Monday, July 14 through Thursday, July 17 from 8 am to 5 pm If you are unable to attend the summer classes, one section of EDET 101 will be offered in the Fall 2008 semester.
